Rex Biechele, 57, Atchison, died unexpectedly Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 at his residence.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Church with Rev. John Reynolds as celebrant. Visitation with the family will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Rex was born Aug. 14, 1956 in Overland Park, the son of Robert and Arda Mayer Biechele. He attended schools [Shawnee Mission West 1973-1974] in Overland Park, graduating from Shawnee Mission East High School.
He and Sarah Kim Smart were united in marriage on May 1, 1982 at Cure of Ars Church in Kansas City.
Rex was a devout family man, cherishing the time he would spend with wife, Sarah Kim and loving their precious children.
Rex and his wife, Sarah Kim served together in the co-ownership of Hilligoss Shoe Store of Atchison, beginning his work with the store in February of 1982.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church of Atchison.
An avid sports fan, Rex enjoyed all spectator sports, especially golf and enjoyed his love of music. He was well known for his cooking abilities and shared his culinary expertise with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Sarah Kim Biechele of the couple’s home in Atchison, a daughter, Rachael Biechele, Kansas City, Mo., a son, Rex Adam Biechele, Lawrence, two brothers, Craig Biechele and Brian Biechele, his parents-in-law, Doug and Pat Smart, two nieces, Barbara and Melanie, brothers and sisters-in-law and families, Linda Sue Robinson, Jeff Lagomarsino, Kimberly Lagomarsino, Sharon Kay and Brian Shaw, Carryejane and Carlos Mantilla and Taylor Shaw, Mary Jane and Dan Gruchala, Lauren Gruchala, Gregg and Xiaowei Hu Gruchala, Peggy Lynn and Doug Barnes, Joyce Ann and William Smith, Jason Downing, Gilbert Downing, Christine Buel, Travis Smith, Caitlin Smith, Mackenzie Smith and Laura Smith and brother-in-law, James Lagomarsino.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert “Bart” Biechele and brother-in-law, Sam Robinson.
