Mary Christine Whalen (Lawson)
November 6, 1956 - August 29, 2005
Mary Christine Lawson, 48, passed away Monday, August 29, 2005 at KU Medical Center.
A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday, September 2, 2005 at Queen of the Holy Rosary. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., at The Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to an education fund for Christine and Brandon Lawson at UMB Bank, 11101 W. 87th, Overland Park, KS 66214, please make the checks payable to Mark Whalen, the children's uncle, and note in the memo "for Children's Fund".
She was member of Queen of the Holy Rosary. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and being surrounded by family and friends. She also loved being around the children that she cared for in her home daycare. Mary was preceded in death by her father, William.
She is survived by her husband John Steinhilber of the home along with her two children, Christine and Brandon; stepdaughters, Samantha and Amanda; mother, Joan Whalen; sisters, Karen Whalen-Marx, Debbie (Gary) Hughes; brothers, Bill Whalen II, Christopher (Carol) Whalen, Mark (Donna) Whalen; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was a very laid back and casual person and would like for those who attend to dress casually and comfortably.
