Obituary from Dignity Memorial

Christian “Chris” King Petersen was a loving father, son, brother, crazy grandpa (thisname was given by his grandkids), and friend. After a long hard-fought battle withdiabetes, Chris went to be with the Lord on April 4, 2023, at the age of 65. Chris alwaysshowed courage in the face of challenges and despite the pain, came out a hero andstayed strong until the end.

Chris was born to Ken and Shirley Petersen on April 25, 1957. Throughout hischildhood, Chris could be found behind home plate catching winning baseball gameswith his father coaching by his side. He graduated High School from Shawnee MissionWest and went on to attend Kansas State University for a little over a year. If you knewChris well, you knew he was a K-State Wildcat through and through. He later startedworking at Honeywell (previously known as Bendix and Allied Signal) in 1983 andretired from a long hard-working career in 2015.

Chris found great pride in being a father to his three daughters and loved them deeply. He enjoyed spending time with them and his grandchildren every chance he got. He alsoenjoyed fi shing and hoped one day he would be able to get back on the lake with a reel inhand.

Chris leaves behind his parents, Ken and Shirley Petersen, his sister, Kathleen Stutz(Bryan Stutz), and his three daughters, Ashlee Brattin, Lindsey Ivey (John Ivey), andCarley Roberts (Anthony Roberts). He also leaves behind his 9 beloved Grandchildren,Olen Brattin, Averee Brattin, Allee Brattin, Lane Brattin, Jaylen Ivey, Jordan Ivey,Aliyah Ivey, Aryana Roberts, Alahni Roberts, and one Great Granddaughter RayneeBrattin.

Chris was preceded in death by both his Paternal and Maternal Grandparents, HaroldChristian Petersen, Anne Petersen, Cranstoune King Bliss, and Edna Bliss.

Though he will be deeply missed, it brings us great comfort knowing he is in Heavenstanding tall and fi shing again with his Best Friend Bill Rowe.
