Mary Mitchell, 17 year old daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Alex Mitchell of Lawrence, Died Wednesday at Kansas University Hospital of injuries suffered in an auto collision Tuesday near Pittsburg.
She was a passenger in a car driven by Doug Calvert, 18, also of Lawrence, which was involved in a four-vehicle accident on U.S. 100 about nine miles west of Pittsburg.
Miss Mitchell's mother said Mary was in Pittsburg with Calvert, her fiance, to see the campus of the Kansas State Teachers College, which Calvert plans to attend this fall.
Miss Mitchell was born Jan. 11, 1955, in Lawrence. She was to be a senior at Lawrence High School. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her parents, a sister, Ann, and a brother, Steve, of the home at 1626 W. 20th; two other brothers, Jeffrey, of Overland Park, and Baldwin, of 3020 Iowa, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin A. Kackley, Jamestown, Kan.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Harold M. Mallett in charge. The body will be cremated.
Rumsey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Kansas Heart Assn. in care of the Lawrence National Bank.
