John T. Culvahouse, 66, of Topeka passed away on June 6, 2022 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka with family by his side. He was born August 11, 1955, in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Jackie W, Culvahouse and Ruth Ann Roberts Culvahouse. He grew up in Lawrence, Kansas where his father was a professor at the University of Kansas. He attended a year of middle school in Oxford, England while his father was on sabbatical. He graduated from Lawrence High School and received two Bachelor Degrees while attending KU. John was a chemistry and science teacher for over 30 years prior to retiring in 2017. He lived in Topeka since 2006.
John was married to Rhonda Culvahouse on September 10, 2005. Rhonda survives at their Topeka home.
Other survivors include his mother, Ruth Ann Culvahouse of Lawrence; children, Alexander Fredericksen of Emporia, Marguerite Fredericksen (Justin Whitaker) of Maize, and Hannah Fredericksen of Ft. Scott; two step-children, Stacey Lyddon of Topeka and Sean Dempsey (Donna) of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Jeff Culvahouse (Sandi) of Overland Park; sister, Alison Hodges of Manhattan; one grandson, four granddaughters, and one great granddaughter..
He was preceded in death by his father, and two brothers, Robbie and B.B.
A private celebration of John’s life will be held later. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Midland Care Hospice in care of Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 N. Kansas Avenue, Topeka, KS 66608.
