Elizabeth Gentry 1954-2020
Liz was born at St. Joseph's Hospital in Wichita, Kansas on February 15, 1954 to George and Joan Arrington Gentry. As a child, her family moved frequently until they landed in Lawrence, Kansas in June 1966. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1973, after which she traveled extensively. She enlisted in the US Army in 1975 and was honorably discharged in 1980. She graduated with honors from Washburn University of Topeka in 1988. She worked at Kansas University Naval ROTC from 1988 until her retirement in 2000.
She is survived by her husband, Terrell Charles, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and by her son, Adam Gentry of Lawrence. She is also survived by two sisters, Fran Gentry of Kansas City, MO, Barbara "Buzzie" Kelly of Columbus, SC, and a brother, Eric Gentry, of Kansas City, KS.
Liz loved life and lived out loud without apology. Her body was cremated. There will be no official services. Please direct memorial donations to the Southern Poverty Law Center or the Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Foundation.
