Memorial services for Donald Dean Mumford, 53, Des Moines, Iowa, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
Inurnment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mr. Mumford died Friday, July 6, 2007, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines as a result of a bicycle accident.
He was born Feb. 9, 1954, in Lawrence, the son of Robert Herman and Mildred Elisabeth Brown Mumford. He attended Lawrence public schools and Lawrence High School. He later attended Mount Hood Junior College in Portland, Ore.Mr. Mumford was a musician and private instructor. He played the drums and performed with several bands including Sun-ra and Dollar Brand. He toured with various bands throughout Europe, Africa, Australia and the U.S. He was lead drummer on the album "Motivation" recorded by Rene.
He was a member of Ninth Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Dale, Portland, Ore., and John, Lawrence.
The family suggests memorials to the Donald Mumford Memorial Fund, sent in care of the mortuary.
