Albert Davis 1955-2017
Memorial services for Albert A. Davis, 62, Lawrence will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Richmond Cemetery in Richmond, KS. He passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Albert was born November 21, 1954 in Topeka, KS the son of Edward M. and Betty Jean (Johnson) Davis.
He married Sandra "Sandy" J. Hull November 7, 1992 in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his daughter, Carole Davis; son, Jacob Edward Davis, both of Lawrence; his sister, Lucille (Keith) Zimmer, Tecumseh; two brothers, John Edward (Carolyn) Davis, Newport, KY, Charles D. (Judi) Davis, Lenexa, KS; and grand puppies, Iggy and Copper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Betty Davis.
Al loved to ride his motorcycle and traveled to 48 contiguous states and Canada with family and close friends. He was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA). He was a Traffic Engineer for KDOT for over 25 years and recently retired. He enjoyed bowling and was on leagues throughout most of his life. Al had unconditional love and support for his family and was happy to jump at any opportunity to help them with anything but mostly making sure they were safe and happy. He never missed a moment to make a stranger smile with a kind gesture or a funny remark, and tended to leave a lasting impression on anybody he came into contact with. He loved what God provided him on Earth. He enjoyed hunting and gardening with his late father and children, in turn he would make homemade goodies to share with others. He will be missed dearly but never forgotten.
The family will greet friends from 1 – 3 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
