David Eugene Mears 1955-2008

A memorial visitation for David Eugene Mears, 53, Lawrence, will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
Mr. Mears died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 23, 1955, in Topeka, the son of Robert E. and Harriet J. Mellenbruch Mears. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Kansas University. He was a longtime resident of Lawrence.
Mr. Mears owned several businesses in Lawrence. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed playing softball and was a drummer in several bands.
Survivors include his mother and two sisters, Janet and Kathy Mears, both of Lawrence.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert, and a brother, Tom.
The family suggests memorials to Cottonwood Inc. or the Lawrence Humane Society, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
